Born at the Keswick Convention as a result of an impassioned plea in 1973 by a man later to be martyred under Pol Pot, the new name - Cambodia Action - will bring the focus more clearly on Cambodia and the ongoing work in that country. That year, those attending Keswick heard an appeal from Taing Chhirc for British Christians to rise to the challenge of supporting the young, struggling church in Cambodia. For the past 19 years, the mission has had a significant input in Cambodia, improving the spiritual, social and physical well-being of the poorest people. Working with the local church and other partners, it is committed to see Cambodia fully restored. The links with Keswick have continued. For its thirtieth anniversary in 2003, the mission brought church leader - Pastor Barnabas Mam - to Keswick. CAMBODIA ACTION is hosted an event during the second week of the Keswick Convention this year to mark this further significant step.
